If you plan to use electricity as your major source of energy then you could use an electric furnace or baseboard heaters in your rooms. Another option you have is a solar power/energy.  These are becoming much more popular as of late due to the other costs of energy starting to rise.

When it comes to cooling your home, you have a couple of different options. You could go with the more traditional air conditioning unit or you could look at using a geothermal unit. Geothermal power does not require gas, oil or wood to run and requires little maintenance.
